It’s great to have a new joy and member in the Pangburn family. There’s no greater joy or moment knowing that Evan Pangburn is a true blessing and gift from God just as all children are. So we decided there was no better way than to acknowledge this before the church.
Baby dedication is a simple ceremony that acknowledges God’s sovereignty not only over Evan, but also over Mom and Dad. Knowing that God is always in control through everything. But as parents we want to ask for wisdom, strength, encouragement, and grace through raising a child in today’s world God’s way. The actual baby dedicating service at church was pretty simple, and regular parents coming before the church, friends, and family to say just that we acknowledge our little ones to be blessings and want to in return lift them up to God and know our responsibilities of leaning on Christ for guidance and direction not only as parents but as husband and wifes as well.
Also at baby dedication ceremony, parents pray that their child will see Christ shine through their house and actions and may some day make that sweet personal decision of trusting Jesus Christ as Savior for the forgiveness of sin.
At this baby dedication service all the parents were asked to stand and all had signed the following:
“A Parent’s Covenant”
As a parent, I willingly accept my child as a unique gift from God. I understand that my parental responsibility involves leading my child into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and helping my child understand God’s specific purpose for his life. Therefor, I promise today that I will strive to do the following:
-
To recognize that my relationship with this child is a sacred trust which requires an investment of quality time and unconditional love.
-
To assume the primary responsibility to teach my child the spiritual truths and values of Scripture.
-
To pray consistently for the physical, emotional, and spiritual well being of my child.
-
To create an environment within our home which demonstrates the Fruit of the Spirit of Christ.
Deuteronomy 6:5-7
“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, soul, and with all your strength. And these words, which I command, you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down and when you rise up.”
Lastly we ask for continual prayer for this commitment in raising children in today’s world.

Mommies First Day Back To Work
It was a sad sad week over at Evan’s house this past week. The time has ran out and it was time for Tara to go back to work. She was very sad and just like every mother that had gone through it missed her little Evan all day long. She returned back to school after being off close to 9 ½ weeks. Her days at work have not been bad but they are not quite as fun as being with Evan all day. The thing she misses most it taking a nap with him in the middle of the day or being able to enjoy the beautiful weather by taking a walk. Only about 8 weeks to go until summer. YEA!!!!!

A Day With Cousin Kelan
A few weeks ago we were able to babysit cousin Kelan. It was a very good day with both of the boys. It was really cute how excited Kelan was throughout the whole day of what seemed to be a whole territory that he has yet to conquer. Kelan actually really enjoyed Evan’s little night aquarium and really would not stop playing with it even to take a nap. I think he finally was able to take a short half an hour nap or so.

We really enjoyed having Cousin Kelan over and here is a cute picture of them both. I don’t know if you could really call this playing together…but I guess as much as a 2 month and a 5 month baby can play together.

This weekend as many of you know it was the Final Four weekend! So while we as a family were all watching the Final Four games this past Saturday, we decided to lay Evan down in front of the T.V. It was really cute to see him just smiling and enjoying the game. And he was seriously looked like he was enjoying watching the game. The best part about it all was he was actually sort of fussing during the commercials, but the second the game was back on he was smiling and content again.
It was really cute and fun to watch basketball with my son this weekend. Though, just for the record he did not stay up for the championship game on Monday.

Evan’s support for his favorite college team
Well if you have read the comment from Aunt Jane you would see that some of us in this house are University of Kentucky fans. His Greatest Aunt Jane and Greatest Uncle Terry have sent Evan some really cute UK things. He has a really cute sweater that he will wear soon, a onesie that he will wear when he is a little older, a bib that he already wears, and a mascot mobile as you can see from the picture. We (Aunt Jane and mommy) are teaching him to love the Cats already.

Everyone has been asking us how Roscoe gets along with Evan so we wanted to let everyone know. Roscoe immediately was very protective. If someone new comes over and holds Evan, he is right there to check on him. If Evan starts crying and Eric and I aren’t fast enough for him, he comes running into wherever we are and looks at us like aren’t you going to do something. He will go in Evan’s room and try to look at him in his bed to make sure he is alright. It is very cute and we knew that he would do wonderfully with him and he has.

On February 19th Evan had his first bath. Now I know this seems like a long time to wait but we had to wait for his umbilical cord to fall off. He didn’t seem to mind it too much but wasn’t completely comfortable with it. Roscoe was right there to make sure he was okay and that it was done right I guess. I think Evan is pretty much okay with anything. He is a pretty content baby which we are very happy with.

Evan said this bath stuff is pretty cold sometimes, he was ready to have his first bath offer with and dry with some warm clothes on.

No Mom is not choking the little guy, though it might look like this, she is just fully supporting little Evan’s slippery wet head.

Where there is the first bath time with Evan there the dog Roscoe follows!

Evan’s one month appointment
Evan just had his one month doctor’s appointment. He is now 9 lbs. 9.5 oz. I know that that does not seem like much since he was 9 lbs. 0.5 oz when he was born but he lost a lot of weight due to not getting enough when breastfeeding. We are now bottle feeding and he is gaining weight wonderfully. He is now 21 inches long which is less than when he was born but he had a lot of molding. He had to have one shot and he did not like it much at all. He was laying there pretty happy and content and then the nurse gave him the shot and you could tell it scared him because his eyes got great big and his little arms starting shaking and then he started screaming. The doctor said he looks great and everything is good. We were very glad to hear that. We just hope he gets longer because with his Daddy’s height we don’t want him to be short. However, if he is we will love him just the same.
